Nature provides us with products that have a special and beneficial effect on our health. Coconut is one of those products that have unique health properties and a number of nutrients. In the process of heating and pressing the pulp of its walnut we get a wonderful coconut oil, which is one of the greatest known superfoods widely used in both kitchen and cosmetics.
Coconut oil has a number of essential vitamins and minerals greatly serving our human body. It is considered to be the healthiest oil on the entire planet Earth.
It contains saturated fatty acids that have been known for their 'bad fat' for many years, but recent researches show how actually positively they affect our health.
The saturated fatty acids contained in that oil are medium chain triglycerides that are a subject to a completely different metabolic process. They do not lead to obesity, they accelerate the burning of fat, they speed metabolism, add energy and the most important factor of all they prevent many diseases.
Besides, coconut oil has an antibacterial and anti-viral effect thanks to the high content of lauric acid, that can also be found in a breast milk.
Following its great values, it is rich in caprylic acid which has anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties.
Ideal for frying as it is resistant to high temperatures and does not oxidize. Highly important information is that, unlike other vegetable oils, during heat treatment, it does not produce toxic substances unless it exceeds 180 degrees!
Quite some time ago, coconut oil has gained recognition in cosmetics too specially in natural ones produces by companies trying to avoid any kind of chemicals. It soothes on our skin, perfectly moisturizes and regenerates. It works great as body lotion or hand cream, especially when we have dry problematic skin. Applied on the hair works as wonderful conditioner, nourishing and deeply penetrating hair providing them with vitamins and minerals they crave.
My favourite recipe - Bulletproof Coffee
1 or 2 tbsp of Coconut Oil
glass of black freshly brew coffee
1/2 tea spoon raw cacao or 1 tea spoon cacao nibs
1 tea spoon honey
1 table spoon butter
Blend it together and drink as energising elixir in the morning!
Benefits of bulletproof coffee: the type of saturated fat in butter and coconut oil slow down the caffeine rush providing a more sustained release of caffeine, more can be found here.
