“Happiness radiates like the fragrance from a flower and draws all good things towards you.” Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
It would be wrong for anyone who would think that happiness in life guarantees us the pleasure of fulfilling it. Meeting temptations brings instant content, but in the long run does not give long-term satisfaction. No wonder the most important things in life are not things. From my observations and many researches I made, the biggest impact on lasting and stable happiness are good relationships with people, engaging in life, good sleep, gratitude, appreciation of small things, exercise, mindfulness and meditation.
Meet 7 habits of shiny happy people:
1. Happy people are surrounded by happy people.
Laughter and joy are contagious. Researchers at the Framingham Heart Study who have researched happiness for over 20 years have found that people who are surrounded by happy people have a better chance of being happy.
2. Happy people take care of family and friends.
Good relationships with your loved ones are the basis of happiness and health. Good contact with family and friends can even extend life. American studies have shown that those of us who have 5 close friends with whom they can discuss their problems consider themselves "very happy". It is worth remembering that nothing is given to us forever, so relations with loved ones should be carefully cherished.
3. Happy people have time for sleep.
The fact that sleep is the key to a good health and wellbeing does not need to be persuaded by anyone, yet few people attach attention to the right dosage of this rest. There are also those who sleep little, irregularly or surrounded by unsuitable conditions, which affects their state of concentration, effectiveness, mood, and even leads to depression and serious disorders of the body, that is not without significance for other areas of life - social contacts or career development. It is therefore worth remembering that a happy person must be above of all - fully rested.
4. Happy people cultivate gratitude.
According to research by the father of positive psychology Martin Seligman, grateful people have more positive emotions, they are less stressed and depressed, and do better in life. Being thankful for every little thing life brings you make you feel the positive impact on your well-being and the entire World.
5. Happy people exercise.
It does not matter what kind of sport you choose. Yoga, running or swimming - every choice is good because physical exercise increases endorphins in the blood. Their deficiency, however, conducts to mood disorders, irritability and apathy. Exercise at least 2 times a week and your sense of satisfaction will increase!
6. Happy people know peace.
To follow the habit of happy people is to find time during the day for a break, to break away from daily duties. Even free time can be managed to improve one's mood. Just a moment in solitude, in silence. A moment of focus on what is here and now, on the breath, on being only with your own thoughts. A peace, moment of relaxation in silence helps us to calm down, improve attention and concentration. Such custom has a great impact on our psychophysical mood. In such a way you design silence that comes from the heart and not the absence of speech.
7. Happy people meditate.
According to Richard Davidson, an American researcher, meditation increases left hemisphere activity responsible for positive emotions and emotional experiences, which translates into higher levels of satisfaction with life, improves well-being and reduces tension. Only 15 minutes three times a week gives you feeling of positive change! There are great apps offering basic meditations for free, that can help you get started with this new daily routine - try out ‘Calm’ or ‘Headspace’ these are my personal favorites or if you know any other good one, please let me know all about it!
